Play at Our Public Parks and Community Center
From playgrounds to walking paths, horseshoe pits to disc golf courses, the public parks in Staples are a great way to get outside for some fresh air and exercise. Stop by the Community Center for an indoor workout on fitness equipment, quick swim in the lap pool, or play some pickleball in the gym!
Lakewood Community Park | 4th Street NE and Prairie Ave NE, Staples
Lakewood Community Park—affectionately known as “The Dinosaur Park”—includes a hand painted crosswalk to the retirement center across the street, adaptive swings, multigenerational exercise path and playground equipment. This park is mostly enclosed with several pine trees to provide shade on warm summer days. “The Dinosaur Park” features a woodchip base with several climbing and bridge units connecting multiple play units for children of all ages! This public park features a picnic shelter, modern handicap accessible restrooms, and lots of room to run!
Pine Grove Park | 1015 Pine Grove Rd, Staples
Pine Grove Park showcases a beautiful white and red pine forest along with two picnic shelters, rustic sand bottom playground with swings, slides and climbing units. The home field to our Lumberbats amateur baseball team, horseshoe pits, disc golf course, picnic areas with accessible kitchen, ponds, and nature walking. This public park is also the location for our drive-through North Pole light display held every winter during December.
Dower Lake Recreation Area | 26415 Thunder Rd, Staples
Dower Lake Recreation Area (DLRA) is the perfect summer destination! This public park offers many amenities: public lake access, swimming beach, softball complex, disc golf course, basketball court, picnic shelter, picnic areas, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball court, and nature trails. Dower Lake is also home to Minnesota’s longest fishing pier!
Sacred Heart Elementary Playground | 324 Fourth Street NE, Staples
During non-school hours, the public is welcome enjoy the Sacred Heart Elementary Playground featuring playground equipment and a basketball court.
Staples-Motley Elementary Playground & School District Fields | 1025 4th Street NE, Staples
The Staples-Motley Elementary School playground is available to public during non-school hours and feature a large accessible play area. The area behind the school includes baseball, softball, and football fields; tennis courts; and a running track.
Northern Pacific Park | 600-698 6th St NE, Staples
Northern Pacific Park has a playground sponsored in part by the Host Lions Club, creek and bridge, picnic areas, and open space. In July and August, this public park hosts the Music in the Park concert series.
Lincoln Park | 313 Nebraska Ave SW, Staples
Lincoln Park has playground equipment, a basketball court, and picnic areas.
Wilson Park | 109 Park Road, Staples
Wilson Park offers a sand volleyball court, basketball court, picnic areas, and playground equipment.
Staples Community Center | 425 4th St NE, Staples
Workout in the fitness center, swim in a competition-length swimming pool, run laps, and shoot some hoops in the gym.
Pickleball is available Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8am-11am and again on Wednesday evenings from 5pm-8pm. Check in with the office prior to play.
